Lost City of Machu Picchu
It was built around 1450, at the height of the Inca Empire in Peru, likely as a sacred religious site. It was abandoned just over 100 years later as a belated result of the Spanish Conquest.
The Spanish never found it, so it was not plundered. Over the centuries, the surrounding jungle concealed the site. Our film reenacts its discovery by Yale’s Howard Bingham: we shot on location at the heritage site at the actual location. We cast 6’ 6” explorer Bingham, then used local Peruvians in support.
